A product of the 80′s, Sy Ari was born in Bronx, New York, a fitting place being that it birthed hip hop.
It is no wonder why the spirit of hip hop surges through his veins. Raised by loving parents, Sy did his best to avoid the negative influences of the street. Earning his stage name, Da Kid, from an older crowd in music he hung around, it was a name that would stick with the emcee. After moving to Atlanta, Da Kid found himself enthralled in music. Landing 11 consecutive wins on Atlanta’s leading hip hop station Hot 107.9 for rap battleground earned the young lyricist a name in the city.
Expanding his role in music, he began teaching himself the art of production. His production skills caught the eye of Brian Michael Cox, Grammy Award winning songwriter and producer, who signed Da Kid as a producer on his label, December First Publishing Group. This opportunity gave Da Kid the needed push to launch his own independent label, Arrogant Music, adding CEO to the young rappers growing resume.
Between producing, writing, and managing his own label, Da Kid managed to put out a record breaking amount of mixtapes from 2011 to 2012. Working with top artists such as RCA recording rap group Travis Porter, G.O.O.D. Music recording artist Cyhi Da Prynce, Def Jam’s newest artist Future, and Atlanta’s own wild boy Waka Flocka, has further extended Da Kid’s reach into the realm of hip hop. Da Kid attacks each track with tenacity, like a lyrical massacre and leaving nothing short than a masterpiece in its wake. Now a rising phenom, he pours himself into every project he puts out. A present day Midas, every song Da Kid releases is golden. With a fan base growing exponentially, it is no wonder why mixtapes such as The Ultrasound, The Other Guys, and The Heartbreak Kid, are already being regarded as underground classics.
Rap legend Jay-Z said “I will not lose, for even in defeat, there’s a valuable lesson learned, so it evens up for me,” a mantra the fellow New Yorker takes to heart. Da Kid is making himself a force to be reckoned with, and with his career on the incline it is only a matter of time before he’s a household name.
